Saint John LED Street Light Conversion

As part of ongoing initiatives to increase energy efficiency and to help with our environmental footprint, Saint John Energy and the City of Saint John are undertaking the conversion of legacy street lighting to energy efficient, environmentally preferable, lower maintenance LED (light emitting diode) street lights. Saint John Energy has, since its inception, provided street lighting services to the City of Saint John. This project will see the conversion of over 7,000 street lights.

Back to School: Traffic Safety Reminder

As a new school year approaches, residents are reminded to exercise caution in school zones. School zones on Loch Lomond Road in front of Bayview School and on Union Street in front of Prince Charles School each have a reduced speed limit of 40 KM/H, 7:30 AM until 4:00 PM on school days. All other school zones in the City have speed limits of 50 KM/H, 7:30 AM until 4:00 PM on school days.

Wright Street Retaining Wall Project – Route 1 Lane Closure

Gateway Operations wishes to advise the public of a lane closure in the westbound driving lane near KM 124 of Route 1, adjacent to Wright Street. The lane closure will begin Monday August 31, 2015, and is expected to remain permanently in place for approximately six (6) weeks as the City of Saint John works to safely complete construction on the Wright Street retaining wall.
