As a new school year approaches, residents are reminded to exercise caution in school zones.
School zones on Loch Lomond Road in front of Bayview School and on Union Street in front of Prince Charles School each have a reduced speed limit of 40 KM/H, 7:30 AM until 4:00 PM on school days. All other school zones in the City have speed limits of 50 KM/H, 7:30 AM until 4:00 PM on school days. Reduced speeds allow motorists more time to react to school children crossing a street to or from school and lessens injuries as a result of accidents. Fines are doubled for speeding in a school zone.
