Applications Available for 2016 Home Energy Assistance Program

Applications are now available for the 2016 home energy assistance program to help low-income families cope with high energy bills.

“Our government continues to focus on improving the lives of New Brunswick families,” said Finance Minister Roger Melanson. “With this in mind, we are pleased to once again offer the home energy assistance program.”

The program provides a one-time payment of $100 to families with a total income of $28,000 or less in 2014.

A total of 44,942 low-income families qualified for the program in 2015 which resulted in a total benefit of about $4.5 million.

“Our government is committed to helping those in need to help move New Brunswick forward,” said Social Development Minister Cathy Rogers. “We are pleased to provide this important program to help those who need it most.”

Individuals may obtain applications on the Department of Finance website or by calling 1-800-669-7070. Forms are also available at Service New Brunswick centres.

The deadline to apply for the 2016 benefit is June 30th.
