Uptown Mugs #35 – Gilliane Nadeau, Uncorked Tours
Gilliane Nadeau has been with Uncorked Tours since its inception in January 2013, and is the driving force behind a revolution of food and drink culture in the Uptown core. Uncorked offers New Brunswick summer winery tours, river cruises and both public and private tastings year round, and caters to the wine connoisseur and food aficionado alike. Their Uptown Saint John walking tours can be booked daily, and offer a taste of local cuisine combined with Port City history.

Uptown Saint John is very lucky to have Amy Allen working for us as our marketing intern for her Business Administration work practicum with NBCC. Amy not only has valuable advanced skills and experience in this field, but brings with her enthusiasm and personality plus. From St. Martins, Amy is a country girl, but definitely with city appeal. She is married to her high school sweetheart Rick, and is mom to two beautiful girls. She balances family and school/work with impressive ease.
Barbour’s General Store Grand Reopening this Weekend
Barbour’s General Store Grand Reopening happens this Saturday August 22nd! The historic icon located at the foot of King Street at Market Slip on the waterfront in the city’s uptown was recently acquired by Gilliane Nadeau’s Uncorked Tours. On the New Brunswick Day holiday August 3rd, a group of Saint Johners who care about tourism and hospitality donated their time to help clean, sort and store the artifacts at the General Store in preparation for opening a Saint John experience hub for visitors and locals.

Welcome to Uptown! Introducing Elwood’s Wood Lab
If you like upcycled furniture and decor and appreciate the unique feel of custom, handmade furnishings and fixtures, you will love Elwood’s Wood Lab! Tim and Eric use their craftsmanship and skill to turn various elements of Saint John history into usable and uncommon pieces. This unique space at 91 Princess Street is divided into two areas – their working space, ‘lab,’ as well as a showroom to display their recent pieces. The space is also home to two beautiful dogs, who seem very comfy amid the construction and goings on.

The above rendering is Acre Architects proposed vision for the new ‘Park Place.’ Park Place will be the future home to Picaroons, Real Food Connections Buckland Merrifield Gallery and apartments.
