A temporary overnight parking ban has been declared for the South/Central Peninsula effective 11 p.m. this evening January 26 through to 7 a.m. tomorrow morning January 27. This means there is no on-street parking allowed anywhere in the South/Central Peninsula area. Any vehicles remaining on-street after 11 p.m. when a parking ban has been declared WILL BE TICKETED AND/OR TOWED at the owner’s risk and expense. Overnight parking bans are declared as per sections 5(6) and 5(7) of the City’s Traffic By-law to allow for snow removal operations.
The South/Central Peninsula parking ban has been declared for this evening to allow for an aggressive pushback of snow to the curb. This will have the streets in better conditions for the anticipated 15 -20 cm snowfall over the weekend.
Five Saint John Parking lots will be cleared for use by on-street parking residents beginning at 6 p.m. tonight. For a map of the parking ban lots, please visit the related documents section here.

Vehicles must be removed from all the above parking lots by 7 a.m. Monday through Friday and by noon on weekends. Vehicles remaining in the lots after these times may be towed at the owner’s risk and expense.
The Peel Plaza Parking Garage offers a $5.00 overnight parking rate for nights when a parking ban is declared. This rate is valid only between 6 p.m. and 8 a.m. the following morning. Regular parking rates will be charged before and after these hours.
The purpose of a Parking Ban is to allow plow crews to push snow back from all streets in the South/Central Peninsula to maintain access to all streets – especially narrow ones – by emergency and private vehicles throughout the winter. The City of Saint John apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause. Thank you for your cooperation as we work to clear our City streets.
