2021 Festive R.I.D.E. Campaign Update Image

Between December 2nd and December 4th, 2021, the Saint John Police Force along with Justice and Public Safety began the Festive R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) Campaign in Saint John. The total statistics over this period are as follows:

  • 1,795 vehicles came through checkpoints.
  • 153 mandatory alcohol-screening tests were conducted.
  • 2 suspended drivers were issued violations under the Motor Vehicle Act.
  • 1 driver was arrested for prohibited driving.
  • 2 drivers were arrested for impaired operation.
  • 1 driver was arrested for refusing to provide a breath sample.
  • 4 vehicles were towed and impounded for 30 days.

In addition to the R.I.D.E. Campaign, two other impaired drivers were arrested by members of the patrol division.

The Saint John Police Force would like to remind the public that the R.I.D.E. Campaign will continue throughout the month of December to reduce impaired driving and prevent injuries. If you suspect an impaired driver, please call 9-1-1.
