Join us for the opening of two new trails in Rockwood Park

The public is invited to join us for the opening of two new mountain bike trails – Millennium Falcon and Jedi Academy – in Rockwood Park at 2:15 p.m. this Sunday, October 20. Millennium Falcon and Jedi Academy add over 1.5 km of new trail for beginners and intermediate mountain bike riders, and are considered multi-purpose/all-season trails that can also be used for hiking, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing.

In cooperation with the City of Saint John and other sponsors, the Saint John Cycling Club Trail Miners will host the official opening celebration, which will include remarks from Mayor Darling followed by a BBQ & snacks, ribbon cutting, and inaugural mountain bike ride. Don’t forget to bring your mountain bike and helmet!

As an added bonus, those who come with their best Star Wars themed costume will have the chance to win great prizes, including snow shoes from Millennium Cycle & Sport.

All activities are free and will be held in the Mountain Bike Skills Park area off The Great Trail (formerly known as the Trans Canada Trail). Watch for the signs as you make your way through the park; the entrance to the trail runs down from the bird feeder parking lot (see map below).

The City of Saint John thanks The Trail Miners for their dedication to community volunteerism and active living in Saint John. A part of the Saint John Cycling Club, The Trail Miners give generously of their time and ability to build and help maintain the mountain bike trails in Rockwood Park. With support from the City of Saint John, Government of New Brunswick’s Trail Infrastructure Fund and other local sponsors, The Trail Miners gave over 1,400 volunteer hours to complete the two new trails.

We hope you can join us on Sunday!
