Canadian Chamber of Commerce hosts Annual General Meeting in Saint John as part of The Saint John Region Chamber’s 200th anniversary celebrations
SAINT JOHN, NB – The Saint John Region Chamber of Commerce today congratulates the Canadian Chamber of Commerce on their nomination for the Meeting and Conventions Award as part of Hospitality Saint John Tourism Awards.
The annual awards ceremony honours the Saint John region’s most significant contributors in numerous categories including, Cruise Champion Award, Loved the Service Winners, Top Attraction & Restaurant and the Meetings & Conventions Award.
“It’s an honour to be nominated for a Hospitality Saint John Tourism Award,” said the Hon. Perrin Beatty, PC, OC, President and CEO of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce. “We share this recognition with the Saint John Region Chamber of Commerce. They were excellent hosts and were key members of our organizing team. Our AGM and Convention wouldn’t have been such a success if it weren’t for their tremendous support.”
The Canadian Chamber of Commerce AGM and policy session is held each year in in a different location across Canada. The event brings 350 or more delegates to the region with an estimated half million dollars in economic benefits for the region’s businesses.
To host the event in Saint John in 2019, the Chamber had to request special consideration in order to coincide with the Chamber’s 200th anniversary as the conference was not scheduled to return to the east at that time. This award recognizes the impact on the tourism sector in our region, involvement of partners in the tourism industry, “buzz” of event, and ability for future spin off.
“We are excited that the Canadian Chamber of Commerce has been recognized for their selection of Saint John as host city and for the economic benefits that resulted. We started lobbying 7 years ago to bring this AGM and Policy session to Saint John as part of our 200 the Anniversary Celebrations, and we could not be happier with the results”, said David Duplisea, CEO The Chamber.
