The Port’s West Side Upgrade Ramps Up This Year

2018 is key in Port Saint John’s west side modernization project.

President and CEO Jim Quinn tells us that last year was focused on the design phase.

Hatch/Dillon was awarded a $205 million dollar contract for the project.

Quinn tells us the work ramps up this summer with significant contracts being awarded and a changing waterfront with more people working and it will continue over the next three to four years

Work includes deepening the main channel in the harbour by 1.5 metres and the creation of an intermodal yard at the back of the property on the west side.

Quinn says this project has the potential to return the port to its days of greatness and he reminds everyone that in terms of tonnage Saint John is the third largest port in Canada after Montreal and Vancouver.
