T4G Considers Itself a ‘Force for Good’ as a Business, But Now It’s Official

SAINT JOHN– T4G, a data-based technology solutions company with offices in Saint John, Moncton, Toronto, Halifax and Vancouver, has officially become a certified B Corporation.

B Corporations are for-profit entities that believe in using business as a force for good. B Corp is a worldwide certification created by nonprofit organization B Lab. The certification process is rigorous, requiring businesses to meet performance and legal requirements and be re-certified every two years.

T4G said in a release that it has been working towards B Corp certification.

“B Corp’s values are a natural fit for T4G. This made the decision to become a B Corp an easy one. Being a B Corp means considering people, the environment, and communities as important as profits and shareholders,” the company said.  “We have long believed this too. Giving back to our local communities and caring about our fellow employees are at the core of who we are.”

T4G joins more than 2,100 leading organizations in 50 countries, including Patagonia, Ben & Jerry’s, Warby Parker, New Resource Bank, and Dansko. There are also other New Brunswick companies that are certified B Corps, including Simplicity DesignsOMISTA Credit UnionHemmings House PicturesWicked Ideas and Adams Green.

“We believe, naively or not, that we can change the world,” said T4G president Geoff Flood, in a release.

Company employees like Facilities Manager Monica Spence and Danielle Leighton, Advanced Analytics SME, are onboard with the new designation because it will make them accountable to their core values.

“I think it’s important because although we all have the best intentions, sometimes the path to helping our communities succeed, to being environmentally conscious, and to being accountable and transparent is not obvious,” said Spence. “Becoming a B Corp will give us the framework to do this better, and I want to help, wherever I can.”

“I’m excited to see T4G become a B Corp because it signals to the world that we are committing to a socially-responsible role,” said Leighton. “This is both critical and necessary in today’s climate. It will bring a new group of potential collaborators (employees and clients), and most importantly, it will offer us a yardstick to measure ourselves against and to provide guidance for progress.”

Now having B Corp certification, T4G says it plans to go even further with goals to work with more socially conscious suppliers and improve at tracking and reducing the energy. They also plan to increase diversity in our workplaces and encourage more community involvement for employees.
