Poley Mountain Opens For The Season

Get ready to strap on your skis.   The season got underway today at Poley Mountain.

Winter sport enthusiasts are rejoicing and they are ready to hit the slopes.

Poley Mountain in Sussex officially opened today.

General Manager Bill Anderson says the snow earlier this week, got everyone in the mood for skiing, and the colder temperatures are making it even more tempting, “Probably the best weather for making snow is right after a storm or after the temperature drops off.  Right now with our new system, we are ready to go. The best temperatures for making snow, are around minus 3 or minus 4.”

Anderson says they made a big investment in snowmaking for this season with new equipment.

Last year they had around 90 days of good ski weather, and they’re hoping for even more this year.
