Traffic Advisory: Marathon by the Sea

sjmarathonbytheseafeatureThe organizers of the 2016 Emera Marathon by the Sea would like to advise residents and motorists that a number of traffic and safety plans have been put in place for this year’s event. The run will begin at the Diamond Jubilee Cruise Terminal at 8 am on Sunday, August 14th, and follow a mapped route across the City, leading back to the terminal for the finish line.

Traffic interruptions:

One eastbound lane over the Harbour Bridge as well as the off ramp to Chesley Drive will be closed between 6:30 am and 3 pm on Sunday, August 14th. The speed limit in the one remaining eastbound lane in advance of and over the bridge will be reduced to 50 KM/H. Marathon participants will run in the closed lane.

Police and traffic control personnel will be stationed across the bridge, and at major intersections and access points along the race route to safely manage and redirect traffic.

Motorists should expect traffic delays, and are asked to drive with caution, and obey traffic signage, cones, and flaggers at all times.
