On Thursday evening, October 22nd, 2015, four individuals and one sport team were inducted into the Saint John Sports Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame has honoured local athletes, coaches, officials, teams and sport builders since 1987. Showcased in Harbour Station, the Hall of Fame spans decades of achievements in a broad spectrum of sports and stands as a tribute to Greater Saint John’s sports legacy.

The 2015 inductees include:
•    Rorri Currie – Athlete; Steeplechase
•    Jason Spalding – Athlete; Javelin Throw
•    Wade Blanchard – Athlete; Curling
•    Adam Dupuis – Athlete; Boxing (posthumously)
•    Saint John Vito’s 1992 Allan Cup Champions – Team; Hockey

The banquet also recognized Bill MacMackin as the Discover Saint John Sport Planner of the Year for his work on the 2015 East Coast Games. This award recognizes the exceptional efforts to plan a major sporting event that has a significant impact on local sport and economy. With over 1000 participants from across the eastern provinces and states representing seven sports, the East Coast Games had a tremendous inaugural year.

The Saint John Sports Hall of Fame induction ceremony is a biennial event. The inductees will also be celebrated at this Saturday evening’s Sea Dogs game at Harbour Station.
