Some of the best lunchtime offerings uptown, especially if you are looking for casual and quality, are at the Saint John City Market. Sagrati’s is one of the most delicious of the food merchants. Specializing in gourmet wraps, baguettes, salads, gluten free products & catering, Sagrati’s feeds you well with quality ingredients, good, hearty amounts and friendly service. Kylee Douglas is the brains, brawn and beauty behind Sagrati’s and we truly appreciate what she brings to our uptown.
Let’s get to know Kylee:
Where were you born?
I am from Australia, born in Tokyo, Japan. Duel citizen to Canada and Australia for 11 years now.
How long have you been part of the uptown scene?
First moved to Saint John in 2001 after living in Banff for 9 years. Worked for the Grannan Group until purchasing Sagrati’s in the city market in 2006.
My favourite season in New Brunswick is fall. There’s just something in the air that makes me smile and feel calm. I think Saint John shines in the fall.
My favourite snack food is hummus, from sagratis :), Spanish olives, from Pete’s Frootique, prosciutto and triscuits.
I had two dogs that I had for 14 years but recently lost. We just adopted a new puppy from the Saint John Animal Shelter … she’s just what we needed, my kids love her.
Favourite movie is The Breakfast Club and I’m all over the place with music.
Uptown Insider Tip?
Uptown insider tip? The old city market … you can get everything you need there to cook an amazing dinner for the fam or host a dinner party for friends … shop local! Being a small business owner in Saint John, I shop locally as much as possible. I buy my fruit and veg from Pete’s Frootique and my chicken from Perry’s market amongst other businesses in the city market. Supporting and shopping locally is so important for the economy of Saint John and it’s important for me to try to do my part. I’m proud to be part of uptown Saint John and I look forward to all the great things to come for the city.
