City Of Saint John Reminds Residents Of Ongoing Road Construction Projects
The City of Saint John is making important investments in our roadways and infrastructure to improve safety, connectivity, and overall quality of life for residents and visitors. We are a city that is experiencing significant growth, and improvements and upgrades to roads is essential in keeping traffic moving, supporting development and providing the best access to neighbourhoods and businesses.
As construction progresses, residents can expect temporary lane reductions and intermittent street closures, both uptown and throughout the city. We understand that these upgrades may cause traffic delays, and we encourage everyone to plan ahead and allow extra travel time.
Some current major projects include asphalt resurfacing along Union Street from Charlotte Street to Smythe Street, watermain replacement on McAllister Drive, the realignment of Retail Drive and Ashburn Lake Road, the installation of a roundabout at Sandy Point Road and Foster Thurston Drive as well as other upgrades across the city.
Importantly, businesses located within construction zones remain open and continue to welcome your support. Your patronage helps keep our local economy strong.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to build a better Saint John. Please remember to drive with care around all construction zones and follow posted signage. Detours will be clearly marked and in the case of asphalt resurfacing, raised manhole covers and other temporary hazards will be clearly marked to ensure driver safety.
The City will continue to update the public about construction projects. All traffic advisories, detour routes, and more information are posted on saintjohn.ca or the City of Saint John’s Facebook page.
