The Saint John Board of Police Commissioners and the Saint John Police are proud to present our new five-year strategic plan. It is now ready for its most important step – your review.
The much-anticipated plan will provide the Saint John Police ambitious, but attainable measurable targets to guide efforts in the advancement of the organization all linking back to our mission – police and community working together for a safer, secure, and healthy Saint John.

Once a community survey and several focus groups were complete, members of the Saint John Police and the Police Commission, independent of each other, participated in a process facilitated by the Chapman Group. Out of these sessions, in conjunction with community feedback, five strategic themes were developed:
- Engage our communities
- Financial sustainability
- Focus on talent development
- Operational efficiency
- Improve our brand
The strategic plan reaffirms the essential role of the Saint John Police as well as the commitment of the Commission and the Leadership team to work together to achieve strategic priorities.

This strategic plan is just the beginning. Our goal is to engage in a constant feedback loop to check in and continue to serve the City of Saint John. The dialogue will begin with both Common Council and the Chief’s Advisory Council.
