Community Kitchen Party In The Park

Second annual City summer welcome event coming to Rockwood Park

The City of Saint John’s second annual Summer Welcome Event, named “Community Kitchen Party in the Park”, is scheduled for Saturday, August 21, at Rockwood Park. The event will cap off this year’s popular summer event series and is a time to welcome newcomers to Saint John and celebrate with long-time residents.

The event will run from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and blend traditional maritime park activities including food, live entertainment, wagon rides, kayaking, lawn games and performances that bring a multicultural flare. Attendees can also get up close to a variety of City service vehicles including Saint John Police Force, Saint John Fire Department, Public Works, Saint John Transit and Saint John Water which will be on display in the Fisher Lakes parking lot from 1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.

“This event is an opportunity for all of Saint John to celebrate summer together at one of our most beautiful public spaces, Rockwood Park,” says Greg Cutler, lead organizer for the event. “We are rolling out the welcome mat for all residents, newcomers, neighbours and visitors. Everyone is welcome.”

Event attendees are encouraged to leave their vehicles at home and take the bus. Saint John Transit is offering shuttles to and from the park approximately every thirty minutes between 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. at the following locations:

NBCC (950 Grandview Avenue)
Newcomer Connections (165 Union Street)
Carleton Community Centre (120 Market Place)
Saint John YMCA (191 Churchill Boulevard)
