Bicom Systems Picks Saint John

14 years ago, Bicom Systems was a start-up communications software company in France. Since then, it has grown into a worldwide company, with employees and collaborators in the United Kingdom, United States, South Africa and Europe. Now, it’s made a conscious decision to make the Port City on the bay of Fundy as its next place to grow in Canada

“We continue to grow and expand our offerings and we are confident that the Saint John office will continue its path to become one of the main locations for our entire operations,” says Stephen Wingfield, Director of Marketing & Sales.

Wingfield moved to Saint John a year ago and lives in Quispamsis with his wife and children. He was drawn to the diversity of the whole region, the talented workforce and the potential for growth in the City of Saint John.

“The city first came to our mind because our second employee in the country, who is now our Sales Manager, Katherine Lloyd, lives here. She shared with us some of the advantages of establishing here and we also saw the city growing and that it would make sense to start our operations and grow along together. The time zone is an advantage, but really, it has been the skilled workforce surrounded by a local environment that is genuinely interested to help,” adds Wingfield.

Bicom Systems has moved to its new location at Hilyard Place and will be hosting an open house on October 18th to give people a chance to get to know more about its business, the industry, to meet neighbouring businesses.

“We wanted a location near the Uptown and also where we could interact with more companies operating in the city. We believe that networking is a great tool for everyone living in Saint John, so being in Hilyard Place, surrounded by many other companies, will certainly contribute to that purpose.”

Bicom Systems focuses on developing, selling, supporting unified and collaborative software, offering turn key communications system to service providers to assist their business, government and call centre customers. It has over 100 employees worldwide, with seven employees in Saint John and plans to hire at least four more by the end of the year.

One of those recent hires was newcomer, Lorena Rico, who is the head of product marketing. She has an extensive background in marketing and communications, working for worldwide players such as Procter & Gamble, Marriott International, Tequila Patron, Airbnb, Spotify, and Air France-KLM. She was drawn to Saint John after a recruitment mission came to Mexico City.

“Saint John is a city that has it all: you have good restaurants and bars, nice landscapes, lots of open spaces for weekend adventures, nice people, cultural diversity and, outstanding public transportation services. Also, lots of organizations and resources to help you become part of the city in a short period of time and good jobs if you’re patient,” says Rico.

The open house is from 2:00-4:00 pm on Thursday, October 18th but because of limited space, people should register at www.bicomsystems.com/openhouse .
