Congratulations to the Sophia Recovery Centre on being chosen as the organization to be supported by this year’s annual Friar Sisters fundraiser concert! The fundraising concert will happen on November 28, 2016 at the Imperial Theatre.
Now in its 13th year, the Friar Sisters concert supports a different organization annually and all proceeds go to the chosen group. Over the last 12 years, the concerts have raised over a half million dollars. Tickets for the concerts typically sell out within the first hour of going on sale. Tickets for this year’s performance are expected to go on sale September 19th and cost $20 each.
About the Sophia Recovery Centre
Sophia, as mentor for the Centre, offers hope, healing and freedom for all women in recovery.
Sophia, the Greek word for “wisdom”, is regarded in Biblical tradition as the feminine presence of God’s wisdom. Her wisdom is rooted in experience and compassion and she values the power of presence. Sophia speaks to wholeness, to integration and to the harmony of body, mind and spirit.
The Sophia Recovery Centre is governed by an independent volunteer Board of Directors. The members include representation from medical, legal, counselling, financial and community service professions.
We support women in all stages of recovery, and offer individual recovery plans, spirituality workshops, and mentoring and relapse prevention programs. Programs and services at Sophia Recovery Centre are offered FREE of charge.
