Local Elections Open House on Wednesday March 16th

Thinking of running for Saint John Common Council, the District Education Council or the Regional Health Authority? Attend an Open House presented by Elections New Brunswick and The City of Saint John.

With the May 9, 2016 local elections quickly approaching, Elections New Brunswick and the City of Saint John are organizing an information session for prospective candidates on Wednesday March 16th, 2016 at City Hall.

Representatives from Elections New Brunswick will provide prospective candidates with information about the electoral process, including the positions to be filled on Municipal councils, District Education Councils and the Regional Health Authorities.

The Open House will also offer an overview explaining the roles and responsibilities of elected members of Council provided by Jonathon Taylor, Common Clerk for the City of Saint John. City officials will give an overview of City operations.

“The candidates who offer their names on a ballot all have a desire to make their communities and our province a better place to live and work,” stated Michael Quinn, Municipal Electoral Officer. “The purpose of the Open House is to share electoral information and to hopefully increase the number of candidates and voters in the upcoming election.”

“We also welcome anyone who would like to know more about Common Council in Saint John and how it functions,” stated Taylor.

The Open House will run from 6:30 pm to 8 pm and be held in the council chamber at City Hall, 15 Market Square, Saint John. There will be a formal presentation at 7 pm.
