Statement From the Mayor Regarding Appointment Of Interim Chief Administrative Officer

On behalf of Common Council and the City of Saint John, I am pleased to share the appointment of Kevin Fudge as Interim Chief Administrative Officer for the City, effective December 12.

With the announcement in October of the upcoming departure of our current CAO, Brent McGovern, it was important that we worked to find an interim leader to fill the role until the search for the City’s next CAO is completed.

Kevin Fudge brings a wealth of experience, expertise and strong leadership abilities to the role, currently holding the position of Chief Financial Officer and Chief of Staff. He has been with the City for over 18 years, including executive positions as Commissioner of Finance, Deputy Commissioner of Saint John Water, and Assistant Comptroller.

I have had the pleasure of working closely with Kevin for many years, and I have no doubt that he will be a tremendous asset to both City staff and Council members as we transition to the next chapter of leadership for the organization. I thank him for stepping in to fill this role and to support all employees during the coming months.

I would like to once again extend my gratitude to Brent McGovern who has played a pivotal role in shaping some of the most transformative initiatives in our city’s history. His thoughtful leadership and collaborative approach have propelled Saint John forward, creating lasting benefits for generations to come.
