<\/a>Wayne Long, Member of Parliament (Saint John\u2013Rothesay), today announced $150,000 in funding for the Imperial Theatre. He made this announcement on behalf of the Honourable M\u00e9lanie Joly, Minister of Canadian Heritage.<\/p>\n

\u201cSince its opening in September 1913, Imperial Theatre has been an integral part of the Greater Saint John region. Its contribution to the artistic and cultural sectors truly enhances the quality of life of residents and visitors to the area,\u201d said\u00a0The Honourable M\u00e9lanie Joly, Minister of Canadian Heritage.<\/p>\n

This funding, provided through the Canada Arts Presentation Fund, will help support the Imperial Theatre\u2019s performing arts series over the next three fiscal years. The multidisciplinary series will present an average of 40 performances a year, including theatre, dance, comedy, circus, music and film by regional, national and international artists.<\/p>\n

\u201cImperial Theatre is one of the most significant cultural facilities in New Brunswick. It showcases cultural experiences for people of all ages, featuring local and world-class talent in a number of artistic disciplines,\u201d said\u00a0Wayne Long, Member of Parliament (Saint John\u2013Rothesay).<\/p>\n

The Imperial Theatre reaches an annual audience of up to 100,000 through its regular programming, in addition to 75,000 students for its school series and young audience programming.<\/p>\n

The Theatre also offers an average of 12 outreach activities each year, including workshops, artist talks, a community jam, an intergenerational event and a free family concert.<\/p>\n
