Saint John Water is looking to tap into residents for feedback on how they use the Loch Lomond watershed and what should be considered when putting protection plans in place for the drinking water supply.<\/p>\n

Over the next two years, Saint John Water and its partners will work to identify high-risk activities, land uses and impacts to water quality in the watershed such as runoff, harmful bacteria and invasive species, and work to create plans and practices to reduce these risks.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe goal of this project is to strengthen the sustainability of our watershed area and ensure our drinking water supply is protected now and in the future,\u201d says Dean Price, Manager of Source Water Protection for the City. \u201cWe want to hear from residents on how they currently use the land and water and what they think should be included in this plan.\u201d<\/p>\n

To help with the creation of updated watershed management plans and practices, residents are invited to join Saint John Water at one of two public engagement sessions in early May to learn how the drinking water is currently managed and to give input.<\/p>\n

The first public engagement session will be held on\u00a0Thursday, May 4 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.<\/strong>\u00a0at the Saint John Police Community Room located at 1 Peel Plaza, while the second session will be on\u00a0Tuesday, May 9 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.\u00a0<\/strong>at the H.O.P.E. community centre at 4347 Loch Lomond Road.<\/p>\n
