This is to notify local businesses and residents that the City of Saint John, through its Contractor, Fairville Construction Ltd., is planning the above noted project on Market Place between Tower Street and St John Street in West Saint John. The project involves upgrades to the Market Place ballfield through several site improvements. The scope of work includes the installation of new sports field netting, backstop fencing, baseball bases, and pitcher’s rubber. Additional upgrades include the rehabilitation of existing dugouts, landscaping enhancements, the installation of a new catcher’s box and batter’s box, as well as the addition of a new warning track, permanent outfield fencing, and foul poles to improve the overall functionality and safety of the field.

Work is tentatively scheduled to begin early next week, with anticipated completion by mid-October, weather and site conditions permitting. During this time, the Market Place Ballfield will be closed to the public.

There will be increased truck traffic during construction and residents can expect some delays. At this time, we do not expect any service disruptions.

The work being done is essential to upgrade the existing ballfield, supporting the City’s parks and recreation system and offering improved amenities for public use.
