Have Your Say: Keep Saint John’s Heavy-Industry Tax Dollars Working Here
The Province is overhauling New Brunswick’s property-tax system and is asking for public input. The City of Saint John urges every resident and business owner to speak up before August 10 and ask that heavy industrial taxes generated in Saint John stay in Saint John.
Why it matters:
- Retaining this tax revenue locally means better roads, safer neighbourhoods, a reduced municipal tax rate, and the capacity to enhance recreation facilities and other services.
- A modern, fair tax system can unlock growth across New Brunswick. Saint John has championed reform for years; this is our chance to shape it.
There are two ways to participate:
- Online: complete the short survey here.
or
- By phone: call 1-833-724-0088
(Mon – Fri 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.; Sat 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.)
When you reach question 18 you can select “Yes” and elaborate to make it clear: keep industrial tax revenue in the communities where it is generated.
Saint John Common Council, the Province, and all eight New Brunswick cities agree that a predictable, transparent, and affordable system must be in place for the 2027 taxation year and beyond. Your voice will help ensure the final plan delivers lasting benefits to Saint John and the province as a whole.
Have your say before August 10. Complete the survey today and share the link with neighbours, friends, and colleagues. Every response counts, let’s make our voices heard.
