By-Law Number BC-1 A By-Law Respecting The Construction, Repair And Demolition of Buildings And Structures In The City Of Saint John

Public Notice is hereby given that the Common Council of The City of Saint John intends to consider giving third reading to the bylaw entitled, “By-Law Number BC-1 A By-Law respecting the Construction, Repair and Demolition of Buildings and Structures in The City of Saint John” at its meeting of December 12, 2022.

The proposed Saint John Building By-law has been updated to align with new enabling legislation, the Building Code Administration Act and associated regulations. Other updates to the by-law are being proposed to enhance customer service and reduce red tape, update construction estimates, and incorporate a new system of deposits for buildings already approved for demolition under the Dangerous and Vacant building program.  If approved, the by-law will become effective on January 1, 2023 as the Building Code Administration Act requires.

In accordance with the Local Governance Act, the bylaw will be read in summary only, if no member of Council objects.
