Train Whistles Now Silent at 2 Crossings on the Saint John’s East Side
Effective immediately, train engineers will no longer be required to sound the engine whistle at the railway crossings located on Rothesay Avenue and Thorne Avenue, as per CROR rule 14(L), except in case of emergency.
The gates, lights, and warning bells will continue to operate and signage will be installed. Citizens are advised to exercise extra caution when approaching the railway crossings at these locations, and obey the safety provisions in place.
The two railway crossing locations have been identified with red circles in the map photograph.

Both these crossing are barricade-protected, so whistles are probably redundant.
