The City of Saint John would like to advise the public of the following traffic interruption that will occur on July 16 on the Main Street Viaduct ramp to Route 1 Westbound. This work is necessary to complete work within the ramp for the Main Street Active Transportation Project.

Time: 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Direction: Westbound

Action: Closed to through traffic

Specific area: Westbound on-ramp to Route 1 from Main Street Viaduct

Description of work: Infrastructure upgrades

Motorists are asked to use alternative routes to Route 1 such as Garden Street/Paradise Row and Crown Street/ the One Mile Interchange, when possible.

Road signage and sidewalk directional signage will be in place. Motorists are asked to drive with caution and be aware of pedestrians and workers. Delays should be expected.

Motorists are reminded to observe all newly installed traffic signs along Main Street and its connecting roads, and to stay alert to updated traffic patterns. Please note that lanes have been narrowed, dedicated bike lanes have been added, and the speed limit has been reduced to 50 km/h for improved safety.
