Saint John Fire Department Actively Recruiting Holiday Relief Firefighters
The Saint John Fire Department (SJFD) is currently recruiting holiday relief firefighters with a diverse range of skills, background, and experience to contribute to the high standard of fire services delivered in Saint John.
As a way to engage with and encourage community members to consider a profession in firefighting, SJFD will be offering a virtual information session about the department and the recruitment process. “The SJFD is committed to being an inclusive, respectful, and equitable workplace that mirrors the communities we serve,” says Fire Chief Rob Nichol. “We prioritize diversity within the fire service and understand its significance. Our ongoing efforts aim to build a team that truly represents the entire Saint John community.”
Saint John’s Fire Service has been operating since 1786, providing essential services including Fire Rescue and Suppression, Technical Rescue, Hazardous Materials Emergency Response, Fire Prevention, Fire Investigation, and Medical First Response to the community of Saint John and surrounding areas.
The virtual information session will be held at 12:00 p.m. on March 6, 2025, and will provide further details and an opportunity to ask questions about the process and profession. Anyone interested can register by emailing fire@saintjohn.ca.
The deadline to apply is March 20. Applications can be submitted on the City of Saint John website HERE.
